One time I talked to Charles Schultz, and he told me a secret about Snoopy. I told him that Snoopy was my favorite character and that he was my inspiration for how to live my life. I love dancing, and playing the piano, and living in a house (although mine’s bigger), and terrorizing yellow birds. He told me that Snoopy’s favorite food is fried chicken. I couldn’t believe it. I always thought that Snoopy was more of a cheeseburger-dog, but I heard it from the man himself. Years passed and I forgot about this conversation, but recently I found a snoopy waffle maker at a thrift store, and got some maple syrup from my crop share, so this dish came together in my mind instantly. Sorry Woodstock.

Every Sunday morning my Dad made us breakfast. Bacon and eggs was his thing. He loves toast too. Then he had a heart attack. So, I scaled down his cholesterol fest to something that cardiologists would approve of. Thanks for the inspiration Dad!

I call these Eggs in a basket. Other people call it : Eggs in toast, Eggs with a hole in it, Eggs in a hole, Toad in a hole, Frog in a hole, Egyptian Eye, Hobo. I’m not sure if it’s some regional thing, but I hate those people.

When I was a young girl in tuscany, my mother kept the hearth rolling all winter. I came home from school, down the snow covered hills, on the cobblestoned roads, and through the vibrant market which seemed warm from the local hustle and bustle. When I pushed open the large oak doors the smell of fresh bread smushed into my nose holes. I was always happiest on pizza fridays.
